Not to be controversial, but I also think Precious was over-represented (although, M'Onique totally deserved her Oscar). I think there were too many holes... Whereas with An Education & some of the others, there were no holes. We're so David & Margaret! Meanwhile, I am too old & I am still making mistakes!

Not only was the movie sadly snubbed at the Oscars, but Carey Mulligan was far superior to the recently cheated, down and out Ms Bullock (in fact all the actresses in same category were better than Sandy). Andfor her age, Carey’s performance was sublime!!
But doesn’t An Education make you want to make mistakes again, just to feel that wonderful rollercoaster of emotions…. but alas I am too old to be allowed to be so dumb.
As for under-representation at the Oscar’s this year, I think it’s more of a case of which films were over-represented…. and to quote you Ebby…

There are definitely other factors (maternity, etc), but I think we women are in a position to be able to negotiate what we want by now!
